Vector Space, Inc. is a consulting firm that delivers decision support systems to private and public-sector organizations.

The firm offers a full complement of services in the decision support arena: Strategic Consulting, Analysis and Design, Implementation, Consulting to DSS, Financial Reporting and Budgeting, and Training.

Vector Space needed a groupware solution that didn’t require a lot of work to administer, was cost effective and easy to use.

Vector Space selected WebEx WebOffice to meet its needs for groupware.

“For 5 years now, we’ve been using WebOffice internally as groupware - the way a larger firm might use Lotus Notes. Because we’re a small firm, we don’t want to take on the administration of something like Lotus Notes. We have Microsoft Exchange, but we don’t want to use it, because it’s a lot of work to administer. It’s a lot easier to use WebOffice,” Mark Albert, Vice President of Vector Space, Inc., says.

Vector Space uses the WebOffice Document Manager very heavily - basically in lieu of an FTP site. “We have an FTP site, but again, WebOffice is more convenient, and easier to use, so we use WebOffice the way another company might use an FTP site,” Albert says.

The firm keeps a library of important documents on WebOffice that its consultants reference constantly when working remotely or at client sites. Since WebOffice is available entirely online, Vector Space consultants can also use WebOffice to communicate and collaborate with coworkers, even when at client sites.

The company uses the WebOffice Calendar extensively. “Being able to access our calendars online is hugely helpful,” says Albert. “Our consultants also use the WebOffice Contact Directories and the Tasks Manager. We synchronize our desktops and PDAs and WebOffice, so we keep everything up-to-date,” Albert notes. “What WebOffice offers is exactly right for us. We can get all the functionality we need, affordably and conveniently with WebOffice.”
