Customer Business Profile
The JA Mulrennan Sr. Research Lab at Florida A&M University conducts mosquito control research.
The Situation
Dr. He (Harry) Zhong, Assistant Professor at the JA Mulrennan Sr. Research Lab at Florida’s A & M University, needed an easy way to share literature about mosquito control with colleagues at the university and elsewhere.
The Solution
Dr. Zhong used WebEx WebOffice to set up “Mosquito Control Online,” a WebOffice for research colleagues. He uses WebOffice to host an extensive database of Abstracts related to pesticide non-target impact. The database can be searched by a variety of parameters and contains a listing for more than 1000 articles
on subjects ranging from the “Effects of mosquito abatement pesticide treatments
on honey bees” to the “Inhibition of acetylcholinesterase from different species by organophosphorus compounds, carbamates
and methylsolphonylfluoride.”
In addition, Dr. Zhong uses WebEx WebOffice to conduct online discussions about the West Nile Virus. He also uses the WebOffice Calendar to coordinate the schedules of research team members, and to check on their availability for meetings.
Finally, he offers WebEx WebOffice as a free-of-charge online registration site for mosquito control conference organizers.
"It’s very easy to set up a database with WebEx WebOffice. You can sort and group data by date, creator, region or any other field."

The Benefits
The WebEx WebOffice Abstracts Database can be easily sorted, allowing researchers to quickly find articles on topics of interest. Colleagues can search the database by author, date, short view and so on, and then email Dr. Zhong for a hardcopy of any article they want.
Dr. Zhong says, “It’s very easy to set up the database with WebOffice. You can
sort and group data by date, creator, region or any other field. You can create multiple views for everyone that uses
the WebOffice.”
Professor Zhong also uses his WebOffice to hold Discussion Forums about West
Nile Virus. The Discussion Forums make
it easy for everyone to add comments
and read colleagues’ comments at a
convenient time. It can be accessed online and even keeps a permanent record of their remarks.
Finally, Dr. Zhong uses WebOffice to
coordinate schedules for his research team at Florida A & M. The WebOffice Online Calendar allows him to efficiently check participants’ availability before scheduling team meetings.
